The Marshall Police Department, in cooperation with its community, is to provide professional service and to protect life and property for all citizens.

The Marshall Police Department is responsible for the protection, safety, and well-being of all citizens and visitors within the City of Marshall. The Department is overseen by the Chief of Police and includes a Deputy Chief, four Sergeants, 10 sworn Patrol Officers, a civilian Administrative Assistant, and seasonal student interns.  Within the patrol unit, there are three special assignments: Detective, Code Enforcement, and School Resource Officer. 

There are additional opportunities to be a member of the Special Response Team (SRT), and the Major Crimes Task Force as a crime scene/evidence technician, drone operator, or hostage negotiator. We also have officers trained in accident investigation/reconstruction, Crisis Intervention Team (CIT )/de-escalation techniques, and instructors in the following areas: firearms, less lethal weapons (Taser, OC spray), defensive tactics, emergency vehicle operations, tire deflation devices, and first aid.

The Marshall Police Department responded to approximately 7,000 calls for service this past year. These calls consisted of anything from a noise complaint to a robbery complaint. This number does not include traffic stops, which are a daily operation of the patrol officer. Our community is one that communicates well with its Police Department and expresses its needs and concerns openly. The Marshall Police Department has a close working relationship with its citizens and as a result, has developed a collaborative to solve crimes and/or problems.
