"To enhance the quality of life for our community by providing safe, healthy and fun recreation opportunities" This living mission statement encompasses the philosophy of the Marshall Recreation Department.

The Marshall Recreation Department prides itself on being able to offer a wide variety of programs that literally enables an individual to participate in Recreation for a Lifetime. Programs and activities are provided year around, located both indoors and outdoors and include athletic leagues and tournaments, after school programming, various trips and special events. Department programs are designed to take you away from everyday life such as school and work and allow you a chance to relax, socialize, compete or just have fun.

The Marshall Recreation Department believes strongly in the benefits of recreation and is committed to contributing to both the individual and the community.

Recreational activities benefit the individual by:

  • Contributing to wholelistic health physically, psychologically and socially
  • Enhancing self-esteem through positive experiences
  • Creating a sense of adventure
  • Providing a balance between work and play
And the community by:
  • Connecting families
  • Instilling a sense of community pride
  • Reducing delinquency
  • Contributing to understanding and tolerance

Economically, recreation is an investment in the community. In this regard, the Department helps to stimulate the local economy by enhancing tourism, creating economic returns to the community, contributing to a productive workforce and providing preventative health services.
